Accommodation overview: Church Cottage, Burford is one of those unique holiday cottages which come along only once in a while! Located in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold town of Burford, and right next to the famous 14th/15th Century church (described as the finest in Oxfordshire) this classic Cotswold cottage has everything to make your holiday truly enjoyable. Internally the cottage has been recently refurbished and provides a holiday home with character, charm and style: light, airy and comfortable, with hints of the 'Art-Deco' period when the house was built. Externally the house has an enviable location at the end of a no-through lane and overlooking the church. There is a very pretty, enclosed garden and (of course) the cottage is only a few minutes walk from restaurants and shops too. The property, which has been within the same family for generations, has been carefully renovated with a real attention to detail and a delightful art deco 'twist' maikng it unique and very appealing. Many of the original features such as the wooden floors have been beautifully retained. The accommodation, which is detached and across two floors is both spacious and cosy at the same time and overlooks the garden in all directions. Outside is a large garden with ample off street parking. Wifi available.LocationKingham is a beautiful unspoilt Cotswold village with a large open green and some elegant stone and thatch cottages mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is situated in the Evenlode valley in Oxfordshire and is a short drive from the more well known town of Chipping Norton. It is a thriving village with a good sense of community. As well as the pubs there is a good village store and an attractive church. The village is unique amongst Cotswold villages, because it is served by a main line railway station about a mile from the village, the mainline railway station provides regular services to London with services operated by First Great Western Link. Of particular note is the The Kingham Plough which is a quintessential Cotswold Inn and has an outstanding restaurant. According to AA Gill: "The kitchen is a serious restaurant workplace. The bar menu is as fine as any I've seen...anyone thinking of opening a local pub restaurant should come here and see the gold standard." (AA Gill writing in the Sunday Times). Otherwise nearby are Chipping Norton, Stow on the Wold and Burford, with Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and Bath all within a reasonable drive.
