Accommodation overview: Very pretty detached cottage quietly situated on the edge of the village. The village of Hickling is on the edge of Hickling Broad, which is the largest of the Broads and is popular for boating and windsurfing. The area is a haven for ornithologists, nature lovers and walkers, with beautiful countryside all around. Cyclists will love the quiet lanes, with a number of places offering cycle hire. Lovely sandy beaches can be found at Waxham and Sea Palling, which are just three miles away, and there is easy access to the whole of Norfolk's rich and diverse coastline. The village has two pubs serving food and further facilities are a short drive away in Stalham.

The village is well placed for ornithologists being halfway between the excellent reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham. For those looking for a more lively pace of life, Hunstanton is also only five miles and there are many other attractions close by well worth a visit. It is possible to travel from the town by narrow-gauge steam railway to the sandy beach, which is backed by pine woods. The beach is one mile from the town and has a car park and tea rooms. It is an ideal location for a holiday at any time of the year and the area is famed for ornithology and has many excellent walks. The North Norfolk Coast, most of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is 10 miles away, with outstanding beaches, wildlife, riding facilities and golf courses.
Itteringham, two miles away, holds the nearest village shop, and also a fine dining pub, the Walpole Arms. The Pigs, three miles away at Edgefield, run by locally renowned Iain Wilson of Byfords in Holt, is a country dining pub with bags of character - particularly note the Pudding Club after Sunday lunch.
