Accommodation overview: Situated at the southern tip of Lake Windermere in a semi rural location and very close to the Haverthwaite and Lakeside Steam Railway, Steam Train Cottage is within striking distance of a variety of activities and quaint Lakeland villages. The area is popular with canoeists and fishermen and being close to Grizedale Forest, the location is ideal for walkers and cyclists too. The cottage is neatly presented with 21st century styling and enjoys a delightful decked seating area giving way to lovely views of the steam railway passing by. The Swan Hotel, on the banks of the River Leven, offers great food throughout the day and is just 2 minutes stroll from the cottage. The property is very convenient for shops, amenities and many excellent restaurants in both Windermere and Bowness. It offers an excellent base for all the popular pursuits in this premier Lake District location. The cottage is laid out over 3 floors and is, therefore, not suitable for the disabled or frail.

Troutbeck Bridge is a great base from where to explore a host of Lakeland attractions. Mid way between Windermere and Ambleside, holiday makers can sample the Roman Fort at Ambleside, Brockhole Visitors centre and take in some impressive high-level views over Windermere Lake from the Troutbeck valley, all within manageable walking distance of the cottage or an easy drive. Taking it's name from the local pure bred breed of sheep, Herdwick Cottage is warm and welcoming and provides comfortable traditional accommodation. The cottage benefits from a decked garden to the rear which is perfect for relaxing in and surveying the views of the surrounding hills.

This unique cottage was converted in 2008 and is full of character, with beamed ceilings, sandstone flagged floor and a feature stone wall in the lounge. It has superb quality furnishings and luxury kitchen and bathroom facilities to provide a romantic retreat which couples will love. Lovely features of this cottage are the Harpsichord and Clavichord, which guests are welcome to play.
