In association with Trinity House, Rural Retreats is pleased to present Argus Cottage at Pendeen Lighthouse. Pendeen Lighthouse lies six miles north of Land's End and two miles from St Just. The lighthouse was established in 1900, electrified in 1926 and automated in 1994.
Argus (with accommodation for three guests) is one of two holiday cottages available at the lighthouse and has a dramatic location on a granite headland on the North Cornwall Coast within an SSSI and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The South West Coast path passes round the headland, passing through part of Cornwall's oldest mining areas. Sandy beaches at Whitesand Bay and Gwynver are close by.
You may be lucky enough to spot seals on the rocks below the lighthouse headland, as well as a variety of seabirds. With banks of seasonal pink thrift and golden gorse, the headland is a perfect location to watch the sun setting over the Atlantic.
You are reminded that Pendeen Lighthouse is an operational lighthouse and there is an electronic fog signal that operates automatically; ear plugs are provided in case conditions are misty.
While the cliff edge is protected by a 4' high wall, for safety we would ask that children must be supervised at all times.
Access roads to some of the lighthouse sites are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.
Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.

A sparkling trout stream babbles through the gardens on its way to the sea at Heddons Mouth. Walkers will be in their element with some lovely countryside walks direct from the property including a gentle stroll through the valley to the nearby Hunters Inn which is renowned for its lovely food. There is much to see and do in the area and you can enjoy the sweeping sands of Woolacombe Putsborough Croyde and Saunton ranked among the finest beaches in Europe. Fringed by cliffs and sand dunes and studded with rock pools these golden beaches offer a range of activities from bucket and spade fun to surfing and watersports. There are attractions to suit all tastes which include National Trust Arlington Court Watermouth Castle Exmoor Zoological Gardens Combe Martin Dinosaur Park and much more. Leisure facilities: direct access from the lounge to the 30 indoor swimming pool (occasionally used by owner by arrangement) family sized hot tub shower room WC and changing room. Stroll the gardens sited by the stream. Harvest Moon is a semi-detached holiday property adjacent to Hunters Moon (DV127) near Feniton, Devon. The holiday rentals have been beautifully converted from a 400-year-old threshing barn, situated on a quiet, semi-working farm in the tiny hamlet of Curscombe. Surrounded by picturesque fields, Harvest Moon is in an ideal location for an outdoor break in Devon, where you can walk your dog, paddle in the stream or have a picnic. There are wonderful views, abundant birdlife, and wildlife including foxes, deer, badgers and hares are often spotted.
Places to visit in this part of Devon include the nearest beach at Sidmouth, just 10 miles away, with many other beaches within easy driving reach. For fossil enthusiasts, the World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast is a 30 minute drive away.
The market town and antique centre of Honiton is only four miles away, boasting a variety of small independent shops along with the usual facilities. The village of Fenition, just one mile away down a country lane, has a post office and church. The nearest pub has a large beer garden bordered by the River Otter, sells good food and is just three miles away. There are many attractions in the area, with Exeter, Dartmoor, Exmoor and both coasts within easy reach for a day out.
The self catering accommodation is separate and private, and boasts 2Mb wireless internet connection. Each holiday cottage has its own private garden with dog-proof fencing.
