Accommodation overview: Home of the Lake Poets, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Robert Southey, Greta Hall is now a large family home, with 2 extremely comfortable self catering cottages attached, The Coleridge Wing and The Old Wash House. This Grade 1* listed building is regarded as one of the most important literary buildings in the UK frequented by the likes of Wordsworth, Lord Byron, Keats, Shelley, Sir Walter Scott and many others. Greta Hall benefits from a Central yet quiet location in Keswick with immediate pedestrian access to the town centre, Skiddaw, Latrigg, Derwentwater and the Borrowdale valley. Situated in 3 acres of lawn and woodland garden which has shared use with the owners family with river frontage and wonderful views from the grounds, Greta Hall is a truly unique place to stay. The Coleridge Wing is from where Coleridge drew his inspiration, and saying I question if there be room in England which commands a view of Mountains, Lakes and Woods superior to that in which I am now writing. The Coleridge Wing has much character with many pieces of hand made furniture individually designed by the owner.

Accommodation overview: Wythburn Cottage details
The secluded grounds of the family owned Grade 1 listed Blencowe Hall estate contain these three Grade 2 listed cottages which have been sensitively renovated to a high standard.
Close at hand is the Aira Force National Trust waterfall offering a great combination of a boulder strewn stream for the young at heart to paddle in, a tea shop and a scenic walk up to the peak of Gowbarrow Fell. The cottages are just over a mile from Greystoke Village (which has a lovely village shop, a traditional Lakeland pub, The Boot and Shoe, a heated swimming pool and Greystoke castle with its 3,000 acres of woodland grounds, with the deer park now open for country walks).
In addition to its own private garden, parking and seating areas around the property, also contained within the grounds of Blencowe Hall is a tributary of the River Petterill which has brown trout fishing. Other outdoor pursuits can easily be arranged including salmon fishing, clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking, sailboat hire and cycle tours along the popular C2C cycle route which passes through the village. The fantastic views over the Lakeland Hills and peaceful setting make these cottages ideal for walkers or guests seeking a "get away from it all" location from which they can enjoy the Lake District without being overrun by other visitors. The three properties here Cazenovia Hall, Riverain and Wythburn Cottages are less than four miles from the Lake District National Park.
Blencowe is easily accessible from the Penrith train station (three hours direct from Euston) and a 10 minute taxi ride. It is about four miles from Junction 40 of the M6. Other popular local attractions include Hutton in the Forest and its extensive grounds which are just a few miles away, Lowther Castle, and one of Alfred Wainwright's favourite walks in the Lake District which winds along just above the shores of Ullswater and forms a fantastic loop journey with a leg back along the famous Ullswater Steamers.
A private garden area and sandstone steps down to its front terrace give access to Wythburn's oak floored entrance hall and cathedral-ceilinged massive breakfasting kitchen. This unique conversion incorporates a first floor reception room with cast iron stove and a sandstone framed opening overlooking back down into the kitchen area.
