Cliff-top and coastal walks can be accessed via a 3 mile walk from the property along rugged terrain but your efforts will be rewarded by the breathtaking views of Hartland Point and Welcome. Conveniently placed on the Devon/Cornwall border you will be within a 30 minute drive from the north Cornish town of Bude with its numerous sandy beaches ideal for all to enjoy from sunbathing to surfing. Many other Cornish attractions are within easy reach including Tintagel the village of Padstow the Eden Project and the many sandy beaches around the Camel Estuary. On the Devon side there is also a wealth of nearby attractions which include The Big Sheep and The Milky Way and many coastal towns and villages including Clovelly Bideford and Westward Ho! The local village of Hartland which was originally a Georgian market town offers traditional family pubs and shops as well as a wealth of history including Hartland Abbey and quay. At the end of the day enjoy a meal at a local village pub or relax with a BBQ in the garden. This delightful cottage, as the name suggests, is a former coastguard's cottage in the small hamlet of Stoke between Hartland Quay and Hartland village. Very comfortable throughout, the living room benefits from a wood burning stove set in an attractive stone fireplace, surrounded by two terracotta coloured sofas. There is a separate dining room with a feature fireplace and a modern fitted well equipped kitchen. You can enjoy the countryside views to the sea beyond from the half landing leading to three attractive bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor. Very large mature gardens extend some two hundred feet, with several sloping lawned areas with shrubs and small covered pond. A paved patio sits adjacent to the house to enjoy al fresco meals or simply relax on warm summer evenings. The scenery along this coastline is truly dramatic and Hartland Abbey, the pretty village of Clovelly and Speke Mill with its seventy-foot waterfall are close by. Some spectacular walks take in tiny coves and harbours, once the haunt of smugglers, and in such a wonderful location Coastguard Cottage is an ideal base at any time of year.
